DETAIL

My deeper passion for ceramics was ignited when I was 20 years old and shown some pictures of beautiful old Japanese chawan. I had never seen anything like it. It was as different from the old Danish pottery tradition as could be. And so inspiring, that I applied for an education in ceramics in Copenhagen soon after.

As a ceramic artist, I now enjoy working directly with Earth’s minerals and their transformation into something new. Nature and its processes are a main source of inspiration for me. Making chawan has become a new practice for me in the quiet winter months. It is freeing and inspiring in my other ceramic work as well. All my chawan are unique and have its own number. Often they are glaze-fired several times to give extra interest and depth to the individual chawan.
