Yu-Wen Huang

Taiwan
DETAIL
Ms. Yu-Wen Huang's works are simple and delicate, and her inspiration comes from respect
for her homeland. She blends her own clay and incorporates soil from her hometown to express
her love for the land. Although her hand-pinching technique may seem straightforward, it
is actually quite challenging to master, requiring extensive practice to truly capture the natural
beauty that arises from the symbiosis of earth and fire. While adept at traditional pottery techniques
such as slabbing, coiling, sculpting, and hollowing out, Huang is exceptionally skilled
at hand building. She fires her Shino pieces with wood to brand it with nature, and that makes
them irresistible.
