Kiln-Fired Masterpiece Chawan Tea Set|Objects of Sharing, Vessels of Inclusion

The practice of “Tea Sharing” (Fen Cha) originated from the early habits of tea farmers, who would invite friends to taste and share freshly made tea. It embodies sincerity and friendship in simplicity, offering a silent savoring of the spiritual world within tea. This wood-fired large chawan re-expands the spirit of “sharing,” carrying tea and human connection through the vessel as its medium.

'' Open Heart, Open Soul '' The Spiritual Force of Tea

Tea has that life force from the sun, the water, and the soil. Drinking tea with an open heart is a connection to heaven from the ground.

Sharing tea is a spiritual experience where all participants can enjoy the beauty of being together. It's about tasting the soil, the water, and the stone. This sense of perception reminds each of us of our eternal and spiritual part—the one that endures beyond differences of character, race, and religion.

Wu Jia-Ying – Ceramic Artists’ Tea Ceremony / Taiwan

Her ceramic works are founded on the concept of “form follows function,” where the shape of the vessel determines the expression and atmosphere of the tea. The vessel is not only functional but also enhances the flavors of the tea itself. Through tea and vessel, she creates an atmosphere of sincere exchange at her tea ceremony.

Having engaged with ryu chawan for many years, I wish to create a lively and free atmosphere within the calm and introspective flow of a tea ceremony. In my session, I will use my own wood-fired chawans to present the flavors of original whole-leaf tea, as well as blended and herbal teas.

Let’s drink tea together!
