About the Performer
Liang Yu-Shui (Atayal name: Donai), an Atayal artist from Tai’an, Miaoli, is renowned for his performances on the traditional jaw harp. Beyond his mastery of this instrument, he is also skilled in carving and craft creation, dedicating himself to cultural preservation so that the unique beauty of Atayal music continues to thrive.
The jaw harp produces bright, resonant tones—capable of mimicking the rhythms of nature and expressing delicate emotions. Liang’s artistry has earned him recognition in national competitions, and he is celebrated as a key cultural inheritor of the Atayal jaw harp tradition.
