An introduction to Cha Dao is a discussion of how to integrate tea into daily life. This includes an exploration of what aspects of tea are virtous and uplifting, allowing us to understand the laws that govern the universe (Dharma) and how to apply them (living Zne). Wisdom requires receptivity, openness and insight, all of which can be cultivated through a tea practice. However, the aim is not merely to know, but also to be what we know. We aim to live our truth in the most ordinary and mundane way, embodying wisdom principles naturally and spontaneously. Tea can help with that as well. Through tea we create the hospitality that allows the opportunity for wisdom and connection with ourselves, with Nature and with each other. Our focus in this course will be on the relationship between Zen, Daoist philosophy and tea with an aim to aid you in your self-cultivation, toward personal and collective awakening.
