The Magic of Boiling Water — Japanese Nambu Tekki Iron Kettles
Speaker: Hu Kuang-Ming
Professor Hu Kuang-Ming is a seasoned collector and a graduate of the Department of Chinese at the University of Hong Kong. In his younger years, he worked in education and cultural fields.
A passionate tea connoisseur and collector, Professor Hu first focused on Yixing teapots, antique porcelain tea ware, and traditional scholarly objects such as inkstones and ink. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the study of Japanese Nambu iron kettles and classical tea utensils. Traveling frequently between Taiwan and Japan, he has studied and emulated the works of renowned kettle makers, and founded the Japanese Iron Kettle Research Society to promote the knowledge and appreciation of Nambu iron kettles.
He has been repeatedly invited to deliver public lectures and appear on television programs, offering unique insights into tea culture. Professor Hu also founded #Xidian, a cultural and artistic space in Hong Kong that regularly hosts exhibitions and workshops, playing an important role in advancing the city’s cultural landscape.
We warmly invite tea enthusiasts and friends who value nature and authenticity to join us in exploring the profound history and craftsmanship of the iron kettle. Don’t miss this opportunity!
