Yoshiko Hashimoto 橋本佳子

Japan
DETAIL
Yoshiko Hashimoto grew up in the richly historical city of Kyoto. She became interested in
painting at a young age and focused on traditional Japanese painting in high school. After
graduating, she became an apprentice to Masatoshi Tsujimoto, a master of a modern kimono
dyeing technique called “ Colorful Ink Yuzen “ that combines oil painting and fabric dyeing.
This rare experience not only honed her painting skills, but also gave her new perspectives and
insights on breaking tradition.
