DETAIL

Creating chawans is challenging work. The form may seem simple, but it is difficult to create and mold the aesthetics. The time spent pondering and thinking is much longer than the actual shaping of the clay.

The piece is completed in the wood-fired kiln, and a team is needed to handle the firing. Thus, my works are the culmination of the wisdom and effort of an entire team. Earth, fire, and ash come together to create an indescribable aura, so we humbly thank the kiln gods for their help. A piece of art is shaped by several different forces and this is the reason why I love making ceramics.
