The long-awaited 2nd Taiwan International Chawan Festival is finally taking place at the Miaobei Arts and Culture Center in Miaoli, following a delay caused by the pandemic. To provide the audience with an opportunity to understand the process of making Taiwanese tea bowls and to experience the joy of pottery firsthand, the organizers have invited Taiwanese ceramicist, Ming-Wen Lin, to conduct a DIY chawan-making workshop. With years of experience in pottery, particularly in kiln building and wood firing, Ming-Wen Lin has received numerous accolades in domestic pottery competitions. Participants will undoubtedly be able to create their own beautiful chawan under his expert guidance, and we eagerly anticipate the enthusiastic participation of all pottery enthusiasts.
In this workshop, the chawans will be hand-built and fired naturally with wood, without glazing, resulting in a unique and natural ash texture. Let's come together to create our own one-of-a-kind hand-built wood-fired chawans!
After the course, participants can choose to pick up their chawans at the "Chunan She Kiln" (Zhunan Town, Miaoli County) or have them shipped via mail, with the additional shipping cost to be borne by the participant.
